On our Kiwi empire

August 11, 2016 Posted By: Mihnea

Back in May, we publicly launched Run An Empire for iPhone in its very first market – New Zealand!

The main point was to discover how real-life players feel about the game, what they think of the features (including newer ones like being able to follow their friends) and just how much the game becomes a part of their everyday life, all of which will help shape up our wider launch.

The campaign was an absolute rollercoaster ride! We were covered by nationals. We did radio talkshows. We got a shoutout from a Member of Parliament. We flyered runners in key areas throughout Auckland. We sent people t-shirts on which we designed and printed their very own unique shield. We had stencils placed through the city, with real-time information on who owns that particular hex. And we even did digital billboards!

We consider all of it a success and we’re absolutely thrilled and humbled with all the support and praise we’ve received – as of this writing our rating is holding up at 4.7 stars and we even became the #1 fitness app in the country for a couple of days!

Here’s just some of the great press we got:

A special shout-out goes to FCB Auckland, our team on the ground for all things PR and media – we couldn’t have done it without you guys!

The next step in our journey is to launch Run An Empire for iPhone in a second country – somewhere closer to home. There are so many things happening at the moment, in preparation for that; we’ll be able to announce more details very soon!
